Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company Limited is an ISO 9001: 2015 Certified Company that provides quality water and sanitation services within Kisumu City. The company is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and strategy oriented individual to fill the following position;


The Incumbent will be responsible for preparation and maintenance of accounting records in line with international and local financial and accounting standards while ensuring that they are in line with the requirements of both internal financial management reports and external audit requirements.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Maintaining the general ledger and controlling accounts balancing and reconciliation for the organization to ensure accuracy.
  • Preparing monthly trial balance and financial statements for accurate financial reporting purposes.
  • Preparing special financial reports including creditors, capital expenditure, specified tax returns and schedules.
  • Preparing periodic financial statements and reports in line with the required guidelines.
  • Monitoring accurate creditors records to ensure accurate disbursements are made.
  • Ensuring all financial accounting tasks adhere to KIWASCO’s financial policy procedures and control systems.
  • Preparing, monitoring, controlling and evaluating expenditure budgets in consultation with relevant heads of department.
  • Establishing efficient and effective payment systems that improve the efficiency of operations in the organization.
  • Managing fixed assets in line with company policy and ensuring that monthly reconciliations are undertaken.
  • Carrying out timely balancing and reconciliation of debtors, creditors’ payments including petty cash and reconciliation and overseeing the maintenance of bank information and bank reconciliations.
Key Qualifications and Competence
  • Bachelor of Commerce/Business Administration, Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional Accounting qualification: Full Certified Public Accountant or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience in a large and busy accounting business environment.
  • Knowledge/understanding of ERP and workflow management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Solid understanding of financial reporting
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
