Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company Limited is an ISO 9001: 2015 Certified Company that provides quality water and sanitation services within Kisumu City. The company is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and strategy oriented individual to fill the following positions;

1. Information Systems Auditor

The Incumbent will be responsible for conducting Internal Audits related to Information Technology functions and the technology applications that support departmental business functions to ensure that the systems controls are appropriate to the task and function effectively.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Work with the Head of Internal Audit in verifying compliance with all the relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform general and application control reviews for simple to complex computer information systems.
  • Perform information control reviews to include operating procedures, system security, programming controls, communication controls, back up and disaster recovery.
  • Preparing Audit finding memoranda and working papers to ensure that adequate documentation exists to support the completed audit and conclusions.
  • Prepare audit reports on various operational issues related to computerized information systems and on general business operations as needed.
  • Carry out detailed audit tests on all the company’s operations based on standard audit programmes in accordance with the approved Annual Audit Plan .
  • Review internal control systems and make recommendations on improvements to ensure that such systems are up to date .
  • Undertake and complete internal audit plans within given timelines as directed by the Head of Internal Audit.
  • Conduct continuous vulnerability and risk assessment of the information technology environment.
Key Qualifications and Competence
  • Bachelor’s Degree in IT or any other relevant Business field
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • CPA (K)
  • Excellent understanding of auditing concepts and practices with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001-QMS, ISO 27001-ISMS, ISO 22301-BSM, COBIT and Knowledge of ITIL Frameworks Implementation and Review
  • Knowledge of Information Systems Audits and Controls Testing (IT General & Application Controls Review)
  • Skilled conflict management to resolve problems that may arise during an audit.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in risk assessment and control concepts/methodologies.
  • Data Analytics (Arbutus ACL).

2. Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) Engineer

The Incumbent will be responsible for planning, designing and developing water distribution systems, wastewater systems and building structures to improve water supply and sanitation.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Preparing contract documents and project reports including BOQ’S specifications, drawings implementation and supervision.
  • Carrying out periodical technical assessments to determine company infrastructural needs.
  • Carrying out preliminary design and costing of the works to be carried out.
  • Preparing and providing reports on rehabilitation, expansion and other infrastructural works.
  • Planning and implementing the preventive and corrective operation and maintenance of network and other water and sewer infrastructure.
  • Supporting performance improvement planning for other technical department sections
  • Advising the Head of Technical Services on procurement of professional services with respect to infrastructure design and construction.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets for this section
  • Conducting research on improvement of the Company’s services pertaining to improved equipment, new methods of construction etc.
  • Collaborating with the strategy and business development section to prepare and submit proposals on different technical projects for KIWASCO.
  • Collaborating with other bodies e.g. county and National Government, KENHA, KURA among others to ensure incorporation of water and sanitation plans in their construction plans.
Key Qualifications and Competence
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Registered Graduate Member with IEK and EBK
  • At least six (6) years, three of which should have been in a managerial position
  • Knowledge of professional engineering practice standards
  • Knowledge of contract management especially FIDIC and CESMM
  • Knowledge in water engineering
  • Knowledge of utility management and infrastructure
  • Project management, water and sewerage infrastructure operation
  • Civil works and knowledge of design and relevant engineering software including AutoCAD, WaterCAD or WaterGEMS or related, SewerCAD, or related software, and other engineering design and related software.
