The Board of Directors of Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) have today 8th December, 2023 elected a new board chairman. Ms. Phyllis Chepkemboi was elected the 3rd Chairman of the board being the first Female board chairperson that the company has had in the last 20 years. She takes over from Mr. Vinod Patel whose 6-years term come to an end. The elections took place during a special board meeting held after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on the same date.
Ms. Phyllis was elected unanimously by the board members, this shows the confidence they have in her leadership. Phyllis is a well-recognized Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, Commissioner of Oaths and a Public Notary for over 10 years. Prior to her appointment as the Chairman of the board, she has served in the company board as the chairman of Human Resources, Legal & Corporate Affairs committee. She has extensive experience in corporate governance and leadership, conflict resolution and management of company law suits.
A new board member Dr. Satwinder Singh Rupra was also joined the board as a nominee from the Office of the Governor who will be representing consumers. Dr. Satwinder is one of the few PhD holders in the field of IT Security and Audit.
He is a dedicated and customer-focused person with a successful background in leading highly performing teams to meet or exceed objectives. He is a tactical and inspiring team builder, with experience in training, team development and delivering excellence.
Accepting the new role, Dr. Satwinder thanked the board members and stakeholders present for accepting him to be part of the board and hoped for further interactions with them. Mr. Vinod expressed his confidence in Dr. Satwinder to deliver and also wished him blessings as he welcomed him to the board. The company is ready for the changes and the hope is that we will continue to scale the heights as we strive to be the Most admired service provider.
